|
This delightful single storey house is set in a magnificent umbrella pine wood at the edge of the historic village of Hinojos. It is less than 5 minutes from excellent bird watching, 30 minutes from the vibrant Moorish city of Seville to the north and miles of sandy beaches at Matalascañas to the south.
This perfect get-away-from-it-all house is ideal for birdwatching, relaxing, swimming, sunbathing and enjoying a good barbecue with friends. | |
|
The house has air-conditioning as well as numerous fans. There are four double bedrooms (one en-suite) plus a double sofa bed, a fully-fitted kitchen, a large lounge with log fire and ample parking. The private and secure 1000 square metre garden is home to orange and lemon trees and a children's play area and sand pit.
The garden attracts a good variety of birds and regular visitors include Hoopoes, Black Redstarts, Zitting Cisticolas, Willow and Sardinian Warblers, Stonechats, Crested Larks, Golden Orioles, Iberian Magpies, Chiffchaffs, Little Owls and Tree Sparrows. Overhead, we have recorded Buzzards, Booted and Short-toed Eagles, Red and Black Kites, Ravens and Bee-eaters. Red necked Nightjars fly around the garden and surrounding areas at night in the summer.

There are two bar/restaurants within a three minute walk and there are five others within five minutes walk. The centre of the village is a two minute drive, where more bars/restaurants, banks, bazaars, supermarkets, pharmacies and other shops can be found.
The Hinojos Stone Pine forest is only 200 metres away, where flocks of Iberian Magpies are resident and other birds, such as Red-necked Nightjars, Short-toed Treecreepers, Crested Tits, Hoopoes, buzzards, kites, eagles, woodpeckers, larks, finches and warblers are abundant.
The area is central to all of the major birding sites in the Donana region. El Rocío is a 15 minute drive to the south, the Dehesa de Abajo, the Entremuros and the Isla Mayor are 25 minutes to the east and the northern marshes are 35 minutes to the south-east. The seaside town (lovely beach) of Matalascañas is beyond El Rocío and can be reached in 25 minutes and the two main cities of the region, Sevilla and Huelva can both be reached in just over half an hour.

You can visit the Casa Doñana website to check availability by clicking here
The house is owned by an English bird fanatic who only uses it for his own birding and family holidays. There is a minimum booking of 3 nights, beyond this, and subject to availability, you can stay as little or as long as you like on a pro-rata basis (i.e. each night's stay is simply charged at one seventh of the weekly rate). This means you can start your booking on any day and end it on any day which allows you to book the cheaper mid-week flights with the low cost airlines.
Low season: October to May
Price for the house for the week: ¤725 / £425
Mid season: June, September & school holidays (excluding summer holidays)
Price for the house for the week: ¤775 / £510
High season: July and August
Price for the house for the week: ¤825 / £550
Weekly rate. Book for a week in the low season and pay the reduced rate of only 725 euros, regardless of numbers. i.e. a group of 8 people would only pay 91 euros / £59 per person. Even at the cheapest hostal available, without the facilities that Casa Doñana offers, 8 people would pay ¤1064 for a week.
With the increased prices now being imposed by hotels/campsites/hostales in El Rocío and elsewhere, this has got to be a bargain offer worth considering.
